You've had your computer for a few months and you have noticed that its going a lot slower than when you first got it this is caused because of the way hard disks store data, your computer stores data in bunches called "Sectors" and when you try and access this data the hard disk moves a small arm that moves from the surface of the disk.
So when you install new software onto your computer, andmove files such as pictures from your camerea this causes the disk to become fragmented as it gets stored in the "Sectors" and larger files use thousands of these sectors and because these sectors are placed throughout the physical disk the hard drive arm has to move more frequently around the entire disk it causes a delay in opening files and programs that can considerably decrease performance this is known as "Hard Disk Fragmentation" to fix this problem there are programs and tools that serve the purpose to organize the hard disk physically so the hard drives arm doesn't have to move so far every time.
